SIMPLE KINTSUGI

with Jan Vingerhoets

The Japanese art of repairing broken ceramic pieces using gold powder and lacquer, under the wabi-sabi world view - the acceptance of transience and imperfection - the recognition of the beauty in the scars, to be celebrated and honoured, not rejected and discarded.

This is a very basic introduction to the technique and some of the philosophy of Kintsugi.  We will be using "cheat" methods and materials, as well as some of my own variations on the fill.

Every participant will get a broken piece to practice with and, if time permits you can try to repair a piece of your own. Materials included - bring a piece to repair - if you dare!

(Light refreshments provided.)

Sound baths is a meditative experience where you are “bathed” in sound waves. Sounds are produced by various healing instruments such as singing bowls, chimes, rattles, medicine drum and sometimes voice.

In the cacao ceremony we will use ceremonial grade raw cacao elixer as a beautiful facilitator for coming into the present moment and connect within. Cacao is known a heart opener and induces a feeling of serenity and connectedness.
